The Architecture of Character:
An Exploration of Form, Light, and Tactility
Space does not tolerate arbitrary elements. In modern environments, visual noise often takes over: newly finished interiors can feel sterile and lifeless, and this void is frequently masked by disparate decor—compromising integrity and character.
My methodology is rooted in the convergence of two distinct disciplines: a formal background in interior design and years of executive leadership managing large-scale business operations. This foundation defines my pragmatic approach to art: I do not think within the confines of a stretcher bar, but within the architectonics of the entire volume. There is no place for ornament for ornament’s sake; instead, every piece relies on calculated proportions, the behavior of light, and uncompromising discipline in execution.
My wall reliefs function as architectural integrators. Rather than competing with furnishings and finishes, they synthesize light, structural lines, and color values, acting as an intentional visual anchor. An artwork can establish the rhythm of an interior from the ground up, or harmonize an existing space—uniting the tactile textures of textiles, timber, and stone into a mature, balanced ensemble.
Relocating to Georgia and establishing my studio in Tbilisi marked a pivotal chapter in my exploration of materiality. The pseudonym Asamani reflects a profound connection to this land: the works embody the density of Caucasian mineral stone, the earthen texture of terracotta qvevri, the weathered patina of historic Tbilisi facades, the clarity of mountain air, and the scent of spring lilacs.
Working at the intersection of sculptural relief and painting, I test the structural limits of diverse media: from delicate mineral compounds inspired by the Wabi-Sabi philosophy to monumental three-dimensional bas-reliefs composed of architectural polymers, metal leaf, and fine acrylics. Each piece is engineered to interact dynamically with raking natural and artificial light, shifting shadow depth throughout the day and transforming a static wall into a living, tactile presence.
Each artwork can be customized or commissioned to align with the specific requirements of an architectural project—taking into account spatial scale, lighting scenarios, and color palettes.
To select an available work from the Tbilisi atelier or to commission a bespoke bas-relief, please share your project's 3D visualizations or interior photography. Together, we will curate a solution that defines your space with architectural precision.
